Happy post-Valentine’s (and pre-Stacia’s birthday) Day! Staying with the ~love~ theme, I’ll be posting about a romance novel I had the opportunity to read, courtesy of the publisher. I used to never read romances but I read The Kiss Quotient last year and I fell in love with the genre! There will be major spoilers and also some serious steam in this review so grab a cold towel if needed and strap in for fun! Also, I’ll have a spoiler-free overview at the bottom too.

Oh my Lord, this was so very very hot! I had mentioned to a friend on Instagram I was reading it and she said “Oh honey, that book had me sweating like a sinner in church” and she was not wrong. There’s definitely some more tame moments of kissing but the actual *heh hmm* sex scenes will make you grab for a fan and take a cool shower. I also liked the backstory building. Sarah and Ian were best friends in college and drifted apart. The way the author was able to weave in flashbacks while keeping the story flowing was masterful.

So our guy, Ian, is like the ultimate Debby Downer. We understand that your brother passed away and so now you’re scared to love anyone else….but do you have to bring it up EVERY. single. time. we’re in your perspective? I think not. There’s a lot of beating-around-the-bush going on here. Sarah realize she’s falling for Ian and instead of telling him (as they agreed to!) she’s trying to hide it/fight it. The heart wants what it wants, honey, just let it happen.

Overall
This is a story about college besties who lost touch and their chance to be together because of teenage shyness. There’s so very sexy scenes and also some really deep heartfelt moments between the characters. I really liked this book because it shows that sometimes, going after the one that got away can pay off.
How about you all, read any steamy romances lately?
